Mission:

In August of 2009, Slow Burn Theatre Company was born. We noticed a theatrical void in South Florida and made the commitment to do what we could to fill it. Our mission was and is to be a locally based professional theatre company providing the South Florida Community the opportunity to see daring, contemporary and intelligent works of musical theatre.  In just two years since opening our first show (Bat Boy: The Musical on Feb. 18, 2010) we’ve grown beyond our expectations.

Audiences, peers and critics alike have embraced us, supported us and made us what we are today. It’s because they appreciate the shows we select, the talent and musicians we work with and the risks we take. In her review of Urinetown: The Musical, the Miami Herald’s Christine Dolen put it better than I  ever could. She said:

"Slow Burn is a musical theater company with moxie. It dares to do full productions of Stephen Sondheim’s works ( Into the Woods is up next, with Sweeney Todd set for next season), shows that fall into the just-fun category (this summer’s Xanadu, a musical performed on roller skates, and next summer’s The Wedding Singer) and unusual pieces like Side Show, about conjoined twins Daisy and Violet Hilton, coming next season. Sometimes, the choices tax Slow Burn’s resources, but somehow Fitzwater and Korinko manage to deliver musicals that entertain, provoke or do both."
