Center Stage Community Theatre of Lebanon, IN, has been producing high quality theatrical performances for the last fifteen years. To date we have produced more than 46 plays, comedies, dramas, mysteries, satires, and one musical. For years we performed on the high school stage, then on a grade school stage, although we have been known to produce a show in the American Legion, the Elks Club, an empty building, a large bookstore, outside on a street, and even a person's home.
For the last five years we have owned our own theatre free and clear and not had to rely on the vagueries of the school system. We now have a cozy 50 seat theatre with it's own sound and light booth, costume room, two dressing rooms, a green room, three restrooms, a large, fully-functional kitchen, a stage, and platform seating, as well as a large storage barn. Anyone can come and join us. No one has to become a member in order to act or even to direct. No one has to live in Lebanon or even Boone County to participate. We have attracted actors and directors from Frankfort, Danville, Noblesville, Carmel, Greenwood, Greenfield, Zionsville, and Indianapolis as well as Lebanon. For anyone who wants to be involved in community theatre, but doesn't want to act or direct, we always need help in lighting, sound, set construction, set decoration, costumes, make-up, hair, house, or even just cleaning the theatre or ground maintenance.
We are a not-for-profit community theatre and do not pay anyone anything. It is all volunteer, and we certainly need more volunteers. Don't be afraid of being the new guy or woman or teenager on the block. We welcome everyone who wants to dedicate some time and energy and have fun with us. So far our youngest person has been twelve years old, and the oldest isn't telling her age, but I know she's seventy.
We do nine performances of each play, and so far we have done four plays a year since we moved into the new theatre. Of course, if you want voting privileges, feel free to join. The fee is only ten dollars a year. We are also a member of Encore, a Marion County based judging organization, which means there is an award ceremony once a year. We particulary need people in their twenties or who can look in their twenties. Age is completely relative. Come play with us.
