Our Mission:
Cornerstone Playhouse is a non-profit regional theater group which was organized in Sparta in 1976. We were honored in 1984 to be designated “The Community Theatre of Sparta.” Our members reside in many of the surrounding communities, as well as in Sparta.
We are proud of our past presentations of plays and musicals, ranging from our first, “Luv,” to our more recent hits, including “Nunsense” and “Fiddler on the Roof.”
Recently, Cornerstone acquired a long term lease, making the historic Crescent Theatre in Sussex, NJ our permanent home.
We always welcome “new blood,” and if you would like to come to a meeting to learn more of what we’re about, we hold quarterly meetings at the Crescent Theatre. After a short business meeting, a program relating to the theatre, such as make-up, improvisation, or a skit, is presented. Refreshments are served.
Theater is FUN! Not only for those who perform on stage, but for those who are involved in “backstage” activities – scenery, lighting, sound, make-up, costumes, props, tickets, publicity, and more. All ages are welcome – experience is not required, but you will have an experience that you will never forget!
