Our name:
The Cromulent Shakespeare Company is committed to "embiggen" the Bard. Coined by a character in a popular animated TV show, the word embiggen is defined by the Urban Dictionary as: "Embiggen [em big' en]. A perfectly cromulent (ironically legitimate) word. To make bigger, to make larger, to make size increase."

The Cromulent Shakespeare Company breathes new life into classical plays with a creative and ensemble based approach. Since 1996, we have dedicated our company to "Embiggen the Bard", and in 2000 added new works and original adaptations to our performance repertoire. Cromulent performed Romeo & Juliet and Hamlet in 2004 and an extremely well-received King Lear in 2005. In 2008 we presented another of Shakespeare's great tragedies, Titus Andronicus, and celebrated the 444th birthday of the Bard of Avon, William Shakespeare.

Since our start in River Falls, Wisconsin we have produced all around the land of lakes, and in the parks and small theaters of Minneapolis and Saint Paul.

Past Shakespeare productions include Henry IV, Part 1, The Comedy of Errors, Romeo and Juliet, The Merry Wives of Windsor, Julius Caesar, Troilus and Cressida, Much Ado About Nothing, Hamlet, A Midsummer Night's Dream, As you Like It, Macbeth, Twelfth Night, The Tempest, Love's Labours Lost.

We have proudly presented original productions such as The Cancer Comedy, Theatre 101, Monsters of Poetry, What I Wil, Robin Hood, Pre-Fringe Mini-Fest, Lysistrata Lesson, and The Fairy Tale Network . Adding to the mix have been improv shows such as Stud Game, adaptations like Macbeth: Weyward Magic, Falstaff, and Sense and Sensibility; and classics like Cyrano de Bergerac and Strindberg's The Father.
