In Tandem Theatre was established in 1998 by co-founders, Chris and Jane Flieller, as a 501(c)3 non-profit arts organization. In Tandem is committed to producing exciting, innovative live theatre by presenting creative programming that enlightens, inspires, provokes, and entertains a diverse audience in an intimate atmosphere through comedies, drama, musicals and original works. In Tandem goal is to establish a connection between the written word and the audience.
In 2007, In Tandem moved into its current home, the Tenth Street Theatre, located in the lower level of the big red church (Calvary Church) on the corner of 10th & Wisconsin in downtown Milwaukee. The space houses In Tandem's administrative and box offices, and features a comfortable, fully accessible, intimate 99-seat theatre. The beautiful and spacious lobby features a full bar, fireplace and baby grand piano. The venue is also home to the 10th Street Gallery, a visual arts gallery with rotating exhibits and the Artist-In-Residence and High School Workshop Program. In Tandem has been voted Top Ten Critics Choice by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel five times: Village Wooing; Apartment 3A; You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown; The Chosen; A Cudahy Caroler Christmas. The Waukesha Freeman chose In Tandem's The Good Doctor, Home, and Two Rooms as Best of the Year in 2003, 2004 and 2006, respectively.
