After attending as observers for two years, the Innisfree Irish Theatre Company first presented a play at the Acting Irish International Theatre Festival in Chicago in 1999. Our production, which represented the North American premiere of Emanon Kelly’s Frugal Comforts, earned the award for Best Production. The following year, we traveled to Toronto. In 2001, we took our production of Martin McDonagh’s The Cripple of Irishman to Denver and returned home once again with the award for Best Production as well as Best Supporting Actor.
