On March of 1991 a group of theater enthusiasts met in the Springfield, New York home of Carolyn and George Goetz. Encouraged by the promise of the use of the new Milford Central School Auditorium, Carolyn and George hoped to start a summer theater company in the region. Their enthusiasm was contagious. By the close of this historic meeting a number of willing volunteers had joined their ranks, and an anonymous donation of $100 was in hand. The Leatherstocking Theatre Company was born. Over the next few years, the company persevered. New productions of American classics and little known works were brought to life.
