Our Story
Lola Tarot was created in January 2004 by Tamara Newmoon and Kenny Telesco in Seattle, Washington. Kenny and Tamara first crossed paths in 2000 on the ecstatic dance floor of Austin's famous Body Choir. They shared some dances, swung around on each other's shoulders, and knew that they had begun a lasting friendship. Their connection was solidified in a deeper way when they toured with The Living Tarot in 2002. When the tours' "ending date" came, there were a few people who wanted to keep going, and so they did. Six months passed, then seven. By the time they reached Seattle, WA, there were ONLY three performers left! With a feat that at first felt impossible, the three performers - including Kenny and Tamara - and an incredible group of Seattle musicians pulled it off and did a month of shows in Seattle. It went very well, the show grew and changed, and when the run ended, it was clear that there was more to come. Kenny and Tamara both decided to move to Seattle and start up a new company. Kenny became the artistic director and Tamara the executive director. They held auditions and the incredible new members were found. The company has been in rehearsal since January, building ensemble and formatting the new show. Lola Tarot is just taking off, and we are excited to see where we will go!
