Mission:
Modjeska Playhouse is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit theatre company committed to drawing the performing arts to South Orange County, becoming a mid-sized regional theatre at the forefront of the community’s developing cultural arts scene. We will produce a variety of work, including classical and contemporary plays, musicals, new works, and theatre for young audiences, encompassing a broad spectrum of genres, challenging and entertaining the playhouse’s theatre artists and our audiences.
The presence of the arts will be increased in our schools, through school tours, classes and workshops, education outreach and partnerships, and arts education. We will benefit the community by finding and cultivating local talent, including actors, directors, designers, playwrights, teachers, administrators, and more, as well as helping adjacent and local businesses to benefit from our existence. Modjeska Playhouse will be built on the spirit of ensemble and collaboration, grooming company members to grow within the company through work, shopping new works or bringing artists through our mentorship programs.
We will develop and maintain the integrity of our brand by holding ourselves to the highest standard of quality, both artistically in the product we put out and the programs we offer, and aesthetically in our physical theatre spaces, studios, and facilities. As we grow, we will explore other performing arts genres, such as improvisational theatre and special events, as well as expand to other visual art mediums such as film production. We will always maintain the high standards we have come to be known by, and focus on the goal of helping the people and businesses of our community to grow and thrive.
