About Us:

The Moonlight Players (a non-profit organization), was founded by Jan Sheldon and Sara Ackers in the city of Clermont, FL. With a monetary birthday gift from Jan’s dad, the original Moonlight Players decided their first production would be The Sound of Music, directed by Jan and music directed by Sara. Other members involved in that very first play were Chris Walsh and Lee Matheny on light design, and Diana White and Bonny Rae on costume design. From then on, the Moonlight Players performed at a variety of places around the Clermont area, including South Lake High School’s auditorium, The Lakeridge Winery, The Mulberry Inn, and Jenkins Auditorium. Their love for theater remained strong and intact throughout all these venue changes, until the group finally found their home in 1999, an old car shop renovated into a theater over the years, and called it The Moonlight Warehouse Theater.

History:

In 1992 several strangers met and became friends during the Stage Door Ensemble’s production of The Pirates of Penzance. In 1994 Jan Sheldon and Sara Achor founded the Moonlight Players. With a monetary birthday gift from Jan’s dad, they decided to produce The Sound of Music with Jan directing, Sara music directing, Chris Walsh and Lee Matheny designing lights, and Diana White and Bonny Ray designing the costumes. This production included two separate casts of children and was performed at the new South Lake High School auditorium.
