“La Nuit,” now NOLA Comedy Theater, was founded in 2003, when the Freret Street corridor was a demilitarized zone. It is because of the creation of this theater, and our efforts to reconstruct after Hurricane Katrina, that the city leadership agreed to our proposal to make Freret Street into a food and entertainment corridor. When you look at the street today, you are looking at the house that La Nuit built. It is possibly the accomplishment of which we are most proud.
