Oswego Opera Theatre is a not for profit performing arts agency serving the residents of Oswego County and the Central NY area. We are dedicated to promoting a greater appreciation of opera as an art form throughout our community. Oswego Opera Theatre performs two works of opera or musical theatre on a yearly basis.
In response to increasing interest in opera and growing demand for cultural programs Oswego Opera Theatre was founded in 1976. Inspired by the community's enthusiasm and the success of its early productions, Oswego Opera Theatre collaborated with Syracuse opera and the Bronx Opera Company to stage some spectacular presentations. Productions such as Hansel & Gretel, HMS Pinafore and Susannah continued to thrill audiences. As the artistic merits of productions increased so did Oswego Opera Theater's reputation throughout the state, earning our organization it's first grant from the NYS Council on the Arts.
