About Us
Stars' founder and director, Lu Anne Tyson, holds a Master's degree in Theatre Arts from Abilene Christian University. Stars programs include a Teen Repertory and a Youth Repertory Company. These companies provide a unique "hands on" approach to educational theater and every member is cast in every show.
Since its inception in 1994, Stars Theater Company has performed at several civic functions such as Arbordaze in Euless, 4Fest in Bedford and a variety of Chamber of Commerce and corporate events. Stars has also been a guest at the State Fair of Texas and the Southlake Variety Show.
Goals
The Stars staff members and board of directors have several goals for the company; and many goals have already been accomplished. In 1995, Stars produced its first full-length musical. The following year, a Summer Camp program was developed for students interested in learning how to design and build scenery. Stars soon added a professional voice teacher to the staff.
In 2003 Stars acquired a facility providing space for additional classes. In 2004, after completing renovations, Stars was able to move into its intimate theater in Southlake with space for performances, classes and storage. Future goals for Stars Theater Company include developing a youth group for national and international touring, and an International Youth Festival.
Stars currently has several former students enrolled in universities and conservatories across the country pursuing careers in theatre. Stars' Board of Directors and staff are proud to give these young people a start toward their dream. As Stars continues to evolve and thrive, we move forward with a sincere desire to continue to enrich the lives of our community's youth.
