State Theatre Center For The Arts

27 East Main Street

About Us:

The State Theatre Center for the Arts originally opened in 1922 as a "picture palace" and a vaudeville house.

In 1989 a group of business leaders and townspeople formed the Greater Uniontown Heritage Consortium and purchased the building to create an arts center in downtown Uniontown. Since then the theatre has presented 21 season of events. Our seasons include nationally touring, professional performances of musicals, big bands, plays, and more.

The theatre offers an Education Series each year. Professional theatre for the young is presented as a field trip opportunity for public schools, private and homeschooling groups making the theatre an extension of the classroom.

A classic film series is offered which brings the theatre full circle, back to its picture palace beginnings. Classic films are shown on the Big Screen at a minimal price one Friday a month. Special holiday films and film festivals are added in throughout the season.

Excellent shows from both national and local groups. There is a wide choice of seating, fine acoustics, and pleasant volunteer ushers. This is an historic building with much atmosphere.

The old State theatre was in great condition, I grew up in Uniontown and went to the movies here many times as a kid but I haven't been here in 60 years. The evenings performance was great, the Classics made 90 minutes of non-stop music which was great and the 5 comics had 2 hours of great humor which had tears running down my legs!

Great place, great people, amazing summer shows! For a local theater troop, I feel like I'm going to Broadway whenever I set foot inside. The theater itself is always very clean and well maintained despite all the full houses I know it's seen. Keep up the amazing work guys, and we'll be back for the next production!
