About Us:
The State Theatre Center for the Arts originally opened in 1922 as a "picture palace" and a vaudeville house.
In 1989 a group of business leaders and townspeople formed the Greater Uniontown Heritage Consortium and purchased the building to create an arts center in downtown Uniontown. Since then the theatre has presented 21 season of events. Our seasons include nationally touring, professional performances of musicals, big bands, plays, and more.
The theatre offers an Education Series each year. Professional theatre for the young is presented as a field trip opportunity for public schools, private and homeschooling groups making the theatre an extension of the classroom.
A classic film series is offered which brings the theatre full circle, back to its picture palace beginnings. Classic films are shown on the Big Screen at a minimal price one Friday a month. Special holiday films and film festivals are added in throughout the season.
