About the Powerhouse:

The Powerhouse Theatre Company has been managing the Powerhouse Theatre and all of its programming since April 1, 1995. When the organization assumed responsibility for the facility, the theatre had been abandoned and was in disrepair, as were the relationships in the community. Since 1995, we have revitalized the space and its programming, become more active in the community, and we continue our efforts to diversify our audience base.

The mission of The Powerhouse Theatre is to provide a home where art and artist are both cared for and challenged in a community based upon mutual respect. We are dedicated to a greater understanding of ourselves and the world we live in. Our process-oriented approach to theatre is designed to explore the medium in innovative ways and provide artists with the opportunity to develop and share their work. It is a commitment to theater as an "educational tool" that drives the Powerhouse community.

The Powerhouse Theatre is committed to the enlightenment and entertainment of the surrounding community through: classes, a main stage performance series, an extensive outreach program, our children's theatre workshops, free community events, and other arts initiatives.

As the Powerhouse continues to grow and expand, our programs remain consistent with our primary focus on entertainment and enlightenment. The Powerhouse is dedicated to the use of theatre as an educational tool and committed to sharing the power of theatre with audiences young and old, presenting the finest quality programming possible.
