About Us:
Theatre of Youth Company, Inc. (TOY) is a non-profit professional theatre company dedicated to the enhancement of life in the community through the enrichment, education, and entertainment of young audiences. TOY aims to engage and challenge young audiences with theatre that is artistically exciting, innovative in form and style and relevant in content. In a society which values high-tech entertainment, TOY strives to instill and nurture in young people, from Pre-K through high school and college, an appreciation for the art of live theatre as a stimulating cultural experience, one which celebrates the worth and creativity of the individual.
TOY was founded in 1972 by Daemen College theatre instructors Rosalind Cramer and Toni Smith Wilson. What started as a small company of local actors working out of the theatre at Daemen College has grown into a cornerstone of the Buffalo Arts & Cultural community. Housed permanently at the historic Allendale Theatre, TOY employs over 60 actors and craftsmen each year and more than 30,000 children grace our audience each season.
Now parents who were touched by TOY in it's first 40 years are returning with their own children, sharing in the joy of the theatre experience and taking the time to see the world through their children's eyes. A wondrous experience and lifelong memories await you at Theatre of Youth!
