The Vienna Theatre Company was started in 1974 by Norman Chaudet, who directed drama at James Madison High School. "Norm" formed the VTC after many of the students he directed in the high school productions wanted to continue to work with him after their graduation and his retirement. Norm started his group with the talented young adults and soon expanded it to include members of the community.

After several years of working with the Vienna Department of Parks and Recreation under Jud Hockman and Barbara Gotterdam, the company was officially chartered by the town in 1982.

VTC grew by leaps and bounds over the next few years, bringing in an abundance of talent on stage and behind the curtain. The company incorporated in 1985 and continues to blossom under the sponsorship of the town of the Vienna.

Today, Vienna Theatre Company is the resident, non-profit performing company at the Vienna Community Center. VTC brings the town of Vienna the opportunity to participate in theater as a viewing audience or as working members of a local theater company dedicated to fine entertainment in the best traditions of community theater.
